Wael Born in Basra-Iraq. Wael completed his PhD in polymer science–electronic applications from University of Basra in 1996. He worked as a research scientist and group leader for 10 years in the polymer research centre in the field of optical and electronic properties of semiconducting polymers and devices fabrication. He published more than 50 papers in a well-known journals and conferences and worked on many grant projects.

 

In 2006 he was awarded an Australia Endeavour Fellowship to work at the university of Queensland with Prof Whittaker of the AIBN as a post doctorate researcher. In 2007 he took up a position of Research Fellow in Prof Whittaker’s group working on the degradation of polymer nano composites. In 2009 he worked as a Technology Manager for the polymer Group and more broadly for the AIBN to manage a large proportion of the equipment in the BNDF facility. He supervise operation and maintenance of a high technology laboratory containing multi-disciplinary instruments.

 

Wael has joined the team at ANFF-Q as a Senior professional officer. He brings a wealth of experience in polymer production and characterization and another pair of highly skilled hands to the ANFF-Q team in the lithograph and soft-lithography area (Fabrication devices).

 

Wael is taking over the management of the ANFF-Q clean room.  As a member of the AIBN Work Place Health and Safety Committee, he has participated in laboratory inductions and advice staff and students on safe laboratory practices.

 

Wael is the founder of the Iraqi Unity Association Queensland in April 2010 with other cofounders, Dr Magtof Getia, Imad Mustafa and Zakaria Al Bakri.
